... drum circle to me means open source music!...
a bunch of people gathers every friday evening at a local art
gallery "Vaishwik"... to beat the djembes, congas, frame
drums, bells, shakers, and other noisemakers... and sing and dance
and clap and yell and chant and stay silent and pray and recharge
for a nice weekend... and end up creating music.
manohar, a good friend and fellow drum circle-er, puts it beautifully. he says, deep down everyone wants to create something... a baby, a recipe, music, a work of art, a successful business, a happy family... drums circle is a platform for creation.
friends, strangers, countrymen (no romans yet)... even the neighborhood kids join in the fun... sometimes what is created is just so-so... at other times the music is beautiful to the point of being meditative... and then some times it is so fresh 'n' peppy, people jump in the middle and do a jig or two.
drumming begins at 6.30pm and we pack up at 8pm.
